POSITIVE DOG
Welcome

The objective of POSITIVE DOG is to offer a gratifying experience for both people and dogs while achieving desired training goals. This is accomplished by using positive reinforcement methods based on proven scientific principles. The approach utilizes a combination of three main elements: (1) training by reinforcing appropriate behaviors, (2) management to prevent the repetition of inappropriate behaviors, and (3) relationship building by making you the center of activities and desired resources in your dog’s life.

A key component in all successful interactions with our canine companions is the ability to establish clear and consistent channels of communication.

Services are offered throughout the D.C. metropolitan area and include in-home obedience training and behavior modification consultations for all ages and all breeds of dogs.
Now also teaching group classes using the level system approach at Fur-Get Me Not. (www.furgetmenot.com).

Levels training is a fairly new concept in dog training. It allows you to attend classes according to your own schedule and training pace. Each level of classes (1 through 4) focuses on a core set of behaviors, which keeps rotating so if you miss a class another opportunity to catch up will soon appear. Levels 1 and 2 are offered two times a week. Everyone starts in level 1 and once all the criteria in the first level are met you graduate to the next one. It is possible to test into a higher level if you feel you are overqualified to start from the beginning. You buy a membership of two, four or six months, if you later want to extend the membership it is easy to do.

Every other week there are orientations which is the pre-requisite to get started.
